The Good Friday, April 14th murder of Lincoln set off the greatest manhunt in American history. This book is told from the perspective of the assassin, John Wilkes Booth. It is a book for historians as it may contain more than you really need to know in its’ 711 pages of large print. My sister-in-law gave it to me so, of course, I read the whole thing. It is a thoroughly documented work giving the hour-by-hour account of the 12-day chase.

The author James L. Swanson is an attorney who has written about history, the Constitution, popular culture, and other subjects for a variety of publications, including the Wall Street Journal, American Heritage, Smithsonian, and the Los Angeles Times. Mr. Swanson serves on the advisory council of the Ford's Theatre Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Campaign and is a member of the advisory committee of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.
