Vicky Ward “The Devil’s Casino: The Fall Of Lehman Brothers” Wiley, 2010, 245 pps  

Happened to spot this book on the library bookshelf and thought, “Why not!”  I have read many books on the 2008 crash and many have dealt with the Lehman bankruptcy, so I did not take any extensive notes this time.  I found this book only moderately interesting, full of anecdotes and empty of substance. 

A quick summary:

In 2008, the 150-year-old financial institution Lehman Brothers casino closed and a world-wide crisis erupted.  Now it is 2014 and little has changed in the financial industry’s casino.  Ward’s book tracks the last 25 years of Lehman’s history.  There are no heroes; her attempt to make one of Chris Pettit fails.  The chief executive Richard Fuld comes across as clueless in the hands of his evil buddy Joe Gregory.
